There never has been any such thing as a truly free market, and there never will be, for one simple reason: Wealth and Power will always conspire to tip the market in their favor. Every experiment in free market economics has borne this out. In large part because the free market has never remained free for long, and has in every case quickly gotten tilted in favor of the wealthy and the powerful.
